This policy explains what personal data we collect when you visit this website or get in touch with us, why we collect it, and what rights you have. We keep it short and specific, because a policy nobody reads protects nobody.

2 · What we collect, and why

When you contact us

If you write to us, we process the details you choose to give — typically your name, your email address, your organisation and the content of your message. We use them to answer you and to carry on the conversation that follows. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries and, where a contract is in prospect, the steps taken at your request before entering into one.

When you visit the site

Our hosting provider records standard technical information each time a page is requested: the IP address, the date and time, the page requested, the referring page and basic browser information. This is used to operate the site securely and to diagnose faults. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the site available and secure.

Cookies and measurement

This website sets no analytics or advertising cookies. Only cookies strictly necessary for the site to function are used, and they carry no personal identifier.

3 · Who we share it with

We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for advertising. Data is disclosed only to:

• our hosting and website provider, which processes it on our instructions in order to operate the site;
• our email provider, for the correspondence that follows an enquiry;
• public authorities, where we are legally obliged to do so.

4 · How long we keep it

Enquiries and the correspondence that follows are kept for as long as the conversation is live and for 24 months afterwards, so that we can pick up a discussion where it left off. Technical log data is kept for 90 days. Where a contract is concluded, statutory retention periods under Swiss law apply.

5 · Your rights

Under Swiss data protection law you may ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is wrong, ask us to delete it, and object to processing based on our legitimate interests. Where the European regime applies to you, you additionally have the right to restrict processing and to receive your data in a portable form.

If you believe we have handled your data improperly you may complain to the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) in Bern, or to the supervisory authority in your own country where one applies. We would rather you raised it with us first, and we will take it seriously.

6 · Security

We apply appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. The measures protecting customer document archives in the RUNA platform are of a different order and are described on the security page.

7 · Changes

We may update this policy as the site or our practices change. The date at the top shows when it was last revised, and material changes will be evident from that date.
